As the name indicates, this is a little program that lets you make comparisons between files that have been codified with MD5 security algorithm codes to see if they are for the same file.

MD5 Calculator can be accessed via the right mouse click, which unveils the drop-down contextual menu. After installing this program you will then see a new addition to that contextual menu, offering you the MD5 Calculator program as an option. You would access this option after selecting a file. The program would then calculate the MD5 value for that file.

But the main feature of MD5 Calculator is one of comparison. Thus, if you have another value for a specific file that you got from a website, colleague, friend, etc and you want to see if you have obtained the same value, then this program will check it for you. MD5 Calculator will calculate the MD5 hash for the file, and will show it in the main program dialogue box as the "MD% Digest. if you paste the alternative value you've obtained into the "Compare To" box you will instantly see if they are the same or not.
